hey man, we all know the diaster in burma and there are lots of fund raising activities in the previous two weeks, but the "noise" is not as big as the one for Sichun...

and 7.8M earthquake is a really big one!! and the PRC gov't is taking a v. different approach than the Burma gov't in rescuing the affected...

a bit of mercy pls~~~

as a matter of fact, hk ppl do support resue and saving efforts in SE Asia and Burma; however, sadly and ridiculously, the burma gov't juz rejected all the helping hands...

talking abt the letter...my little brother who's a fresh grad of HKU confirmed that they DID receive an email from their vice chancellor for Sichun earthquake needies...

i don't think this kind of letter is a joke! though i see yr pt in sending out a similar letter for burma needies...i juz can't agree w/ u...

talking abt globalization, many globalized orgs/MNC in many fields(at least my co., and many others that i know) also sent out internal comm to their employees abt the Sichun earthquake...i don't think it's a joke!!!

a bit of mercy pls~~~

folks,

i think i have received quite a number of emails discussing what i had said.

folks, i do feel sorry for what had happened in sichuan. i'm not really cold blooded. i hope you know i'm not.

i know i'm wrong by making comparison. one shouldn't compare disasters. one should never try to do so.

i learn the news of hong kong from Yahoo!HK. and to me, it never mentions burma.

because the rangoon junta has sealed off the disaster areas. and because peking government is doing their best to help her people.

that's why i think the burmese need much more help.

we have to give pressure to the junta from all directions of the world. we have to let the junta know the world is watching.

that's why if i have only a penny, i would give it to the people in burma.

again. i know i'm wrong by comparing disasters which one should never do.

Maybe you have received enough response on that, but still, I would like you to know what I'm thinking.

I agree that both the Burmese and Sichun People (or the Chinese) deserve equal assistance from all over the world as people are equal no matter what races or skin colors. But, I think you should feel at least a little bit more “painful” when you see people of your same skin color and growing up on the same piece of land are suffering. I will be rather disappointed to discover that you no longer feel yourself as a Chinese. You are the people of the same country, if you don’t offer your assistance to them, who will offer theirs? Like the hurricane disaster in the US, who has given the greatest help among the world? No doubt that it was the Americans. You may not like the ruling party just like many of us, and even feel shame of her because of many reasons, but you should love your country out of no reason.
I hope, you just want to attract our attention to the Burmese and you were just not saying that clear enough.

i think i understand what you mean. i think there's not enough space for me to say what i want to clarify and what i'm thinking here.

i hope i can clarify and say what i'm thinking these few days.

thanks.

really feel sorry to read such a passage from you, the man who loves everton. may be you're really so smart to have such an outstanding view of the matter. But it's just disappointing. I think you may not like the chinese culture or politics, but the fact is that we are chinese.

An Anonymous Friend, if you don't mind i be-friend to you,

i think i have tried to clear something these days. i know i have disappointed some, if not offended. i hope i did make it a little bit clearer. obviously i may not feel the grievness hk and other chinese cities are feeling. cyclone nargis made the times editorial but not the quake. they talked about burma in radio not the quake. hope you understand.
