星期一。上班時候﹐天空裂開了一個血盆大口﹐向這個島國的首都傾瀉一場滂沱大雨。印象中﹐踏入十一月以降﹐沒有一個上班日是大晴天。

跳上火車後﹐也不大理會不斷滴著水點的雨傘﹐立即打開《泰晤士報》﹐趕緊記下愛爾蘭對法國那場足球比賽報導裡面一些重點﹐也匆匆讀過前愛爾蘭前鋒卡斯卡連奴的分析。因為上週末﹐我其實沒有好好蹲在電視機前留意那一場世界杯外圍賽生死戰首回合。

我真的提不起興趣看愛爾蘭國家隊的比賽﹐雖然﹐我知道﹐返到公司後﹐這將會是大家茶餘飯後的話題 - 就是這個原因﹐所以﹐我要在回到公司前﹐好好知道那場比賽的重點﹐和背好別人的一些分析﹐好讓我不至於在眾多同事面前口啞啞。在這樣的環境底下﹐讀《泰晤士報》就特別有用﹐因為全公司裡面就只得我是這份英國歷史悠久報紙的讀者。於是﹐我的見解將會特別獨到。

我不是不支持愛爾蘭國家隊。我也希望他們能夠打入明年世界杯決賽周。不過﹐要我好好的看他們比賽﹐實在恕難從命。因為他們的水準實在太差。《泰晤士報》便很抵死地用今年在《X FACTOR》裡大出風頭的那對來自都柏林的雙生兒JEDWARD﹐來跟這愛爾蘭足球隊比較。記者寫道﹐同樣是LIMITED TALENT﹐JEDWARD總算還能夠在緊要關頭贏得SIMON COWELL的讚賞﹐這支足球隊則頻臨出局邊緣。

當然﹐都是LIMITED TALENT。那兩個JOHN & EDWARD根本不懂得跳舞和唱歌﹐只是憑著少少搞笑技巧﹐博取得觀眾支持﹔至於﹐愛爾蘭足球隊﹐他們的球員超過大半其實都不夠水準在英國超級聯賽立足﹐只能在低層次的組別裡打滾。有什麼TALENT可言﹖

我曾三次跑進球場﹐觀看他們比賽。他們不僅沒有贏過一場﹐表現還要差得叫人頻打呵欠。我覺得﹐那跟浪費金錢沒有分別。把錢拋進大海﹐還能夠得到一點點豪氣的快樂。所以﹐上週末﹐我寧願觀看JOHN & EDWARD。(假如不清楚JEDWARD﹐可以想像WILLIAM HUNG打進AMERICAN IDOL決賽﹐還得到電視觀眾支持。當然﹐JEDWARD比那個香港男生算是點優勝。是LIMITED TALENT跟NO TALENT AT ALL的分別。)

當然﹐在同事面前﹐這番話實在不能說出口。於是﹐唯有好好背下報紙裡的報導和分析。

也要不斷提醒自己﹐當提到那場比賽﹐要懂得裝作一副垂頭敗氣的樣子﹐來朗誦辛苦背下來《泰晤士報》裡面那些句子。

只是﹐回到公司﹐就立即碰釘。遇上一些平常會一起談論足球的同事後﹐我竟然開口問道﹐DID YOU WATCH FOOTBALL﹖

在愛爾蘭生活了接近四年﹐我還是改不了口稱足球做SOCCER。在歐洲﹐就只有這個島國不叫足球做FOOTBALL。

Anyway, it's a big night in Paris. Will Dublin steal it at the end?

Oh a bit unbelieable, Michelle, you men are 1-0 down in Paris, at half time. 1-1 in aggregate. Seems Dublin may be able to steal it.

Yes, Michelle. This is the best performance of Irish football team I've ever seen, but the hand of Henry simply crushed the heart of Irish.

I'm sorry but your men did cheat the way to South Africa next summer. In no doubt it was a handball.

I know you are trying to prompt me to boycott this very interesting net activity - for you haven't finished the chapter one yet. I know that, so i'm sorry i'm not going to boycott it. =P

I'm the one to write chapter 2, ain't I? Looking forward to your chapter 1.

haha how did you know that :) not talking about finishing, actually i haven't started it yet :P i'll try to post it by 21st, letting tomorrow the last day for new applicants... :)
